issued by the Territory of Florida (1829-1831), State of Florida
(1861-1865 and 1870), and the various local governments,
railroads, banks and merchants that also issued currency during that
turbulent era in Florida's history, as well as other related
materials.
Florida was the
least populous of the Confederate States, therefore the number of
notes issued here was smaller than in most other states.
This, and the passage of time, has made all 19th
century Florida notes rare and valuable. Additionally,
the increased level of interest in collecting all old currency, and
particularly Florida currency, has led to tremendous
increases in the value of most of these notes. Immune to
most outside economic pressures, the value of these notes has
been escalating at a rate that far exceeds most other
investments.
We are also
pleased to offer a small selection of notes issued in Florida during
